This diskette contains release version 1.04 of the Tseng Labs ET4000/W32,  
ET4000/W32i and ET4000/W32p display driver for OS/2 2.1 and OS/2 2.11.



NOTE:  If OS/2 2.1 Service Pack is installed and your system has a
       Tseng Labs W32 chip you MUST modify the installation procedure
       as follows, or your system will hang.  This is not necessary for
       W32i and W32p chips.  If you don't know which chip your system has
       it is recommended that you follow the modified instructions to avoid
       problems.       
       

   1) Follow steps 1-7 as described below.

   2) For step 8 select INSTALL USING DEFAULTS FOR MONITOR TYPE.

   3) Skip steps 9&10.

   4) Follow steps 11-15 as described below.

   This will install the driver using the default refresh rates.

   If you wish to change the refresh rates you can now reinstall the
   driver as described below.


                         
                            
                   INSTALLATION  INSTRUCTIONS 


1.      Open OS/2 SYSTEM.
2.      Open COMMAND PROMPTS.
3.      Open either OS/2 WINDOW or OS/2 FULL SCREEN.
4.      Insert Tseng Installation diskette in drive A.
        Label the diskette TSENG 1 using the command LABEL A: , if you
        have not already done so.

|        Type:
|            A: [enter]
|            GATEWAY A: C: [enter]

|            Where A: is the drive with the Tseng Installation diskette,
|            and C: is the drive with OS/2 installed.
|
|            Now remove the Tseng Installation diskette from drive A:,
|            Shut Down your system, reboot your computer, follow 
|            steps 1-4 again and continue with step 5 below.

5.      Type:
                A: [enter]
                INSTALL A: C: [enter]

        Where A: is the drive with the Tseng Installation diskette,
        and C: is the drive with OS/2 installed.

6.      From the DISPLAY DRIVER INSTALL window,
                select PRIMARY DISPLAY
                select OK.

7.      From the PRIMARY DISPLAY ADAPTER TYPE window,
                select TSENG LABORATORIES ET4000/W32/W32i/W32p
                select OK.

8.      From the MONITOR CONFIGURATION/SELECTION UTILITY window,
                select INSTALL USING DISPLAY ADAPTER UTILITY PROGRAM
                select OK.

9.      From the MONITOR CONFIGURATION/SELECTION UTILITY LOCATION      
        window,
                type A:\SETMODE.EXE
                select OK
                
10.     SETMODE will prompt you to set refresh rates for 640x480
        resolution, then for 800x600, and finally for 1024x768. 
        Currently available choices are shown in parentheses.
        The refresh rates selected will apply to OS2 DESKTOP and
        seamless windows.
        

11.     From the SELECT DISPLAY RESOLUTION window,
                select the desired resolution
                select OK.

12.     From the SOURCE DIRECTORY window,
                select INSTALL.

13.     When the drivers are completely installed, you will be prompted 
         to shut down and restart the system for changes to take effect.
                select OK.

14.     Remove the diskette from drive A.
15.     Shut down and restart.

                WIN-OS2 FULL SCREEN REFRESH RATES

To set a refresh rate of 72 Hz for 640x480, 800x600 
and 70 Hz for 1024x768 for WIN-OS2 full screen 
do the following:

1. Copy VMODE.COM from the w32/w32i/w32p driver disk to your
   utilities directory.

2. Add the following commands to autoexec.bat
     C:\UTIL\VMODE 72HZ
     C:\UTIL\VMODE 48K
     C:\UTIL\VMODE 72M
   where C:\UTIL is the name of your utilities directory
   containing VMODE.COM.

3. Shutdown and reboot.

WIN-OS2 full screen will now be capable of 72 hz refresh at
640x480 and 800x600, and 70 hz for 1024x768. Be sure your
monitor can handle the higher refresh rates.
