About the Author:

My name is Joe Tompkins, and I am a Technology Specialist for the Rockdale County School System in Conyers, Georgia. I created "Gepeto Software" from my home and began writing educational software in response to needs that I saw in our schools. The teachers wanted some way to apply technology directly to what they were currently teaching. These programs allow them to do that.

About "MathMaker:Skills Edition":
The MathMaker Series is a series of worksheet and activity creation tools for different branches of mathematics. This first program in the series covers the basic computation skills: Addition, Subtraction, Multipication, and Division. The program easily creates over a half dozen different activity worksheets using any or all of the skills. The activities include Skills Practice Worksheets/Quizzes, Secret Riddle Worksheets, Math Squares Puzzles, Word Problems Worksheets, Value-Matching Worksheets, Math Crossword Puzzles, and Printed Flash Cards. All are just a few clicks away and created instantly following the criteria you set.
Clipart can be added to worksheets and puzzles. Formatting options such as font style, size, and color are available. Best of all, the "QuickWord" option lets you open the worksheet in your favorite word processor with the click of a button.

System Requirements:
MathMaker runs under Windows 95 or 98 on a single computer or a network running Windows-NT

Troubleshooting:

*Crossword Puzzle Creation
-Math crossword puzzles are best created with a small-to-medium list of large integers. If you have trouble with the crossword, try setting your "Maximum" values higher and choose a fewer number of problems.

*Printing:
The worksheets have been spaced to print most effectively on a wide range of printers. If you notice that part of the worksheet is getting cut off, then you can add spaces in the appropriate places to correct the problem, or "export" the worksheet to a word processor and print it from there. (Or use the "QuickWord" function...)
**Crossword puzzles will print better if your computer's video resolution is set to 800X600.**
Also, make sure your printer is NOT set to print on "Draft Quality" mode by default.

*When running MathMaker over a NETWORK:
-The program folder must have Sharing on and Permissions set to "Read/Write" or "Full".
-A file is available at our web site that will make the program run much better in a network environment. Go to www.gepetosoftware.com and on the "Downloads" page, get the Network Install Files. Unzip these to the same directory as this program.

*Screen size and fonts:
-MathMaker was created to run at 800X600 resolution. It is highly reccommended that you use this setting. If you have trouble with the display, make sure the Font Size is set to "Small Fonts" in the "Settings" menu of the Windows Display Properties.

*Errors:
	1) "File not found"
When creating a shortcut or desktop icon, make sure the "Working Directory" listed in the shortcut properties is the directory where "MathMaker" is stored.*
