********************
1. What is Thinner?
********************

Thinner is a text editing program, designed primarily for converting
HTML or e-mail documents to plain text. It can also format text
suitable for e-mail or other formats, and perform many common tasks
associated with text editors.

*****************************
2. How do I install Thinner?
*****************************

Simply run the "setup" program that came included in this download.
It is also highly recommended that after installation, you create a
shortcut to Thinner on the desktop, for easy drag-and-drop.

Requirements:
  * Windows 95/98/NT
  * Visual Basic runtime files

If you do not have the necessary runtime files (the computer tells you
that you need a particular file), you can download the full installation
of Thinner from its webpage:
http://ieng9.ucsd.edu/~m1foley/thinner.html
You can also download the runtime files separately, but the full
installation makes it much easier.

*********************************
3. Do I need to pay for Thinner?
*********************************

Nope.
Thinner is Freeware. However, if you really feel like you need to
contribute something, you can always see the About box for donating
food to a starving UCSD student.

***********************************
4. How may Thinner be distributed?
***********************************

Thinner may be freely distributed, as long as the program and README
files have not been changed. Also, I'd appreciate an e-mail to keep
track of where it's going.

*******************************
5. How do I uninstall Thinner?
*******************************

Simply go to the Control Panel, and select "Add/Remove Programs".
Then select Thinner, and press the Add/Remove button.

*********************************
6. How can I contact the author?
*********************************

You can e-mail Mike Foley at: m1foley@ucsd.edu (yes, that's a "one"
in there), or you can go to his webpage at:
http://ieng9.ucsd.edu/~m1foley/

Thanks for trying out Thinner. After installation, open Thinner and
select "View ReadMe..." from the File menu for information on how to
use the program.
