Subject: Ad ideas for Gus... in time for Xmas

With all the new sound cards that feature wavetable synthesis, it must be
hard for the average Joe to know what sound card to buy. Envitably, he
(or she) will end up getting a Soundblaster card of a type or another.

Gravis needs to put out an ad with some weigh. It worries me to see
nothing on the mass-media PR front.

This, in point form, is generally what I'd like to see in a Gus ad.
1) Mention wavetable synthesis being better than FM.
2) Compare the 32 channels to other 2 channel cards.
3) Talk about the (lack of) CPU use. Compare it to something like an SB16
stating that a game played on a 486-33 would be like a Gus on a 486-25
(something like that).
4) Point out that a RAM based wavetable card does not have the ROM based
limitations that most other wavetable cards have. Mention the more than 5
megs of patch files to choose from. Also add fact the Gus can use original
samples, and that other wavetable cards can only do General Midi music and
nothing more.
5) State that it is the world's best selling wavetable card (which I
think it is), and that it's the #1 sound card among demo writers world-wide!
(Take a poll or something, if need be... the Gus will win handily.)
6) And of course, mention the price!

That's it... I think this will help clear up some "confusion" for people.
Hope someone at Gravis reads this.

Well, the problem that was only affecting the GUS-SDK list
seems to have seeped over into the General list. The lock file
doesn't go away, so mail gets lost in the ether. I'll see what I can
do about fixing it.

	Sorry about the trouble, folks.

I'm forwarding this reply to the Digest:

Zapo Zapper scurries across a keyboard, producing this:
> Hello. I run a VirtualBBS system, and subscribe to the daily digest.
> I was wondering if you'd mind if I imported the digest, as an echo, into
> VirtualNET?

No problem at all. Anyone is perfectly welcome (and
encouraged) to post the Digest anywhere they think it will help.
Other networks, BBSs, etc., etc.

I would appreciate you letting me know that you are doing
this, so I can have a rough idea of where the digest is getting to.

	Thanks!
