Well, as promised, here is the first installment of "Deacon Blue's
Allfix<->PCBoard Installation Guide". Hope it helps.

1. First thing to do is add a line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to
   set the environmental for ALLFIX. You know the drill, I'm sure. Just
   add the line

SET ALLFIX=C:\ALLFIX

or whatever the path is to your allfix directory. The next thing is to
reboot (I know you know that but there may be someone else reading this
that might have forgotten that you have to reboot before any changes in
your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS take effect).

2. Change to the ALLFIX directory and type:

FCOMP 8 C:\PCB\MAIN  <enter>

The 8 tells it you are using a PCBoard and the path is the path to the
directory where the @X0ECNAMES.@@@ @X03file is.
This is just to let ALLFIX know What file directories you have set up
and where they are. It also will process any messages bases that you
have set up to scan for the FILEFIND feature and the REPORT feature
(these will be defined later so we'll have to run FCOMP again)
Any time you add or delete or rename a file area you must run FCOMP so
Allfix can find it.

3. Still in the ALLFIX directory, type ASETUP <enter> and enter the
   System Data | Address Maintenance | Network Addresses screen.

Here's what mine looks like:

@X0C------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main 1:3825/21 ;This, of course is my main FIDONet address
Fake    1:3825/21.999     ;See below
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't really understand the Fake address bussiness, to be honest with
you. It has something to do with the way Allfix interacts with PCB's
message bases. All I know is that you need to use an address that you
are sure doesn't really exist. A point off of your Board is perfect
because you know it isn't there.

4. The Next Screen is the System Data | Address Maintenance | Site
   Information screen. No big deal here. Mine looks like this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
BBS name Deacon Blue's
Phone 1  806-857-3501
Phone 2
Phone 3
Location Fritch, TX
SysOp    Mark Elliott
Max baud 14400
Flags V42B,V32B,CM ;Same as in the nodelist
Reg key xxxxxxxxxxxx ;Sorry, can't print that! <G>
----------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Now the System Data | Address Maintenance | AKA Matching @X03screen
    The 0 are like a wild card inicating all the nets in a Zone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Zone:Net             AKA
1.  1:0                  1:3825/21
2.  2:0                  1:3825/21
3.  3:0                  1:3825/21
4.  4:0                  1:3825/21
5.  5:0                  1:3825/21
6.  6:0                  1:3825/21
----------------------------------------------------------------------

6. Now the System Data | Address Maintenance | Domain names screen

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Main 1:3825/21 || Zone Domain Name
AKA 1   914:806/1            ||   ---------------------------------
                             ||   1         NWTNet
                             ||   2         NWTNet
                             ||   3         NWTNet
                             ||   4         NWTNet
                             ||   5         NWTNet
                             ||   6         NWTNet
------------------------------------------------------------------------

NWTNet is our local FidoNet net.

7. And, the final screen in this installment, the
    System Data | Address Maintenance | Uplink Manager screen
    These are the addresses of people that you've made arrangements to
    poll the file echos from. Most of the time, if the File Echo is
    listed in the FILEBONE.NA you can get the echo from the same hub you
    get your Fido Echos from. For some of the echos you'll have to contact
    the Hub listed in the FILEBONE.NA. BTW, if you don't have the
    FILEBONE.NA yet get one. You'll need it to set up your file echos
    with. If your hub doesn't have it then you can FREQ FILEBONE from
    me and get it.

Hope this gets you started.
Mark
