HP Markets HP DeskJet Portable Printer in U.S. Graphic

Hewlett-Packard Company has introduced a portable version of its popular HP DeskJet 500 printer. The 4.4 lb HP DeskJet Portable offers the same laser-quality (300 dpi) output as the DeskJet 500. The DeskJet Portable connects to any PC-compatible computer via a parallel printer port, and ships with a custom-designed, low profile parallel cable that is flexible and easy to pack. An optional rechargeable battery is available, allowing 100 pages of printing per 6 hour recharge (a standard video camcorder battery can also be used).

The printer has a fast 160 character per second (cps) output in letter-quality mode and comes with CG Times and Universe fonts in portrait and Courier and Letter Gothic in portrait and landscape.

The DeskJet Portable printer accepts letter-, legal-, and A4size cut-sheet paper, transparency film and labels manually fed. The optional cut-sheet feeder holds up to 50 sheets of paper or transparencies. The DJ Portable uses the 500's ink cartridge (not the high-capacity).

The HP DeskJet Portable is a parallel printer and would require a serial-to-parallel adapter to connect to the 95LX's serial port.
