Introduction

QuickNote is a simple little program which makes it easier to write the same pieces of text over and over again. It stores small documents in an easy-to-browse interface and allows you to copy them into the Windows clipboard with one mouse click. From there you can paste them into any other Windows (or DOS) application you may have running.

Suggested applications:

- Answering emailed tech support questions
- Inserting general notes in CAD drawings
- Posting notices in usenet groups

These are the things I wanted it for - you use it for whatever you need!

To install QuickNote, unzip qnote10.zip in a temporary directory and then double-click on qnote10.exe. This will start the installation process.

To uninstall QuickNote, do the following:

1) Click on Windows "Start"
2) Click on "Settings", "Control Panel"
3) Double-click "Add/Remove Programs"
4) Find quicknote on the list and click it so it is highlighted.
5) Click on "Add/Remove"
6) The uninstallation program "Unwise" will start up. I strongly recommend accepting all the default choices!

Note: Sometimes, after uninstalling a program the start menu icon for it will still be there. It should go away after the computer has been shut down and restarted normally. Also, WaverlyStreet makes a point of never deleting any data that the user has created. This may result in the program folder being retained. If you are sure you want to be rid of it, remove the folder with the Windows Explorer.

You can (and indeed should) install new versions right "over" old ones, without trying to uninstall first.

Conditions on use - disclaimer of warranty

QuickNote is free for non commercial individual use. If used in business a registration fee of $10 (US) must be paid for each installation. Please send cash, check, or money order to WaverlyStreet, P.O. Box 14249, Columbus, Ohio 43214.

QuickNote may be freely distributed.

Great care has been taken to make sure that QuickNote is a solid and dependable computer program. The program is written in Microsoft Visual Basic version 5, and the installation is performed by the Wise Installation System version 6.0. The program, installation, and un-installation have been extensively tested on several in-house machines and also independently by a number of volunteer "beta testers". However, it is simply not possible to test on every conceivable hardware/operating system combination, and so therefore it is impossible to say for sure that QuickNote will function flawlessly on your system.
