ABOUT TRAYCLIP

TrayClip is a useful clipboard enhancement utility that is easily available from the system tray. Whenever a new text is copied to clipboard, TrayClip automatically stores it its list called the ClipList, containing up to one hundred entries. This gives you instant access to the last hundred clipboard entries - you can copy them to clipboard again with one mouse click, delete them or save them permanently to the PadList.
The PadList contains all the pieces of data you need frequently, like your email address, source code, the URL of your homepage, or your passwords. One click, and they are copied to clipboard. You even have to possibility to create simple scripts, allowing you to fill out those password questions or whole Internet forms automatically. In fact, you can send every possible keystroke to any application you desire.
TrayClip also comes with a built-in calculator, which saves you the trouble to search for the windows calculator. It comes in very handy if you want to know the result of a calculation very quickly.
Another useful tool is the timer. Now you'll never miss your favourite TV-show again, just because you were working on the computer and forgot about time. With a few mouse-clicks, you can set the timer precisely to the second - either at a specific time, or for a certain duration. You want to be reminded when it's 16:59 and 30 seconds? No problem with TrayClip!
But that's not all! TrayClip also features a To-Do-List, where you can quickly write down the things you want to get done.
TrayClip supports Drag & Drop and stays always on top if you wish. The settings and the entries in all lists are user-specific, meaning that every single user on a family computer can customize TrayClip as he or she likes, and everyone has his or her own ClipList, PadList and so on.
If you want to get more information on the functions of TrayClip, read the StartHelp. You can open the StartHelp by right-clicking on the TrayClip icon in the system traybar and selecting "StartHelp..."
TrayClip is shareware. We rely on our customers to pay for the software they use. To give you a fair possibility to test it, TrayClip will not bother you at all for the first 30 uses. After 30 uses it will nag a bit, after 80 uses it will nag more.

INSTALLATION

To install TrayClip, you'll simply have to extract all files in the ZIP-file you downloaded to a directory of your choice. Then start TrayClip. From now on, TrayClip will always start when you boot up the system, unless of course you tell it not to do.
TrayClip will not start if the VB 6.0 SP3 Runtimes are not installed on your system. Just download them at http://www.chtsoft.com/ (select "Download" in the TrayClip navigation menu). Install them before you attempt to start TrayClip again. Everything should be fine now!
If TrayClip still doesn't start, complaining that some files are missing, you possibly installed an update, even though you don't already have a regular version of TrayClip. Visit http://www.chtsoft.com to download the regular version.

UNINSTALLATION

To remove TrayClip from your system, quit TrayClip if it is running. Then just delete the folder TrayClip was extracted to.
Note: don't do this to remove version 3.x or below!

FAQs

>>> System Requirements <<<
- Windows 95/98/NT/2000
- VB 6.0 SP3 Runtime files (get them at http://www.chtsoft.com)
- Display resolution of 800*600 or higher recommended

>>> How do I upgrade from a previous version of TrayClip? <<<
The procedure of upgrading varies, depending on which version of TrayClip you already have installed and which version you want to upgrade to. Refer to the update instructions given on the homepage.

>>> TrayClip doesn't run at all. What can I do? <<<
Perhaps you haven't installed the VB 6.0 SP3 Runtime files, or you downloaded only an update without having installed a regular version of TrayClip first. If this is the case, download the necessary files at http://www.chtsoft.com and install them before you attempt to run TrayClip again. If you already did this and TrayClip still won't start, please send a description of the error to support@chtsoft.com!

>>> Changing the "Always run TrayClip" option has no effect on my system. <<<
You have to be an administrator to be able to change this option. It's the same for the "Hide TrayClip from NT Task List" option.

>>> TrayClip is too large for my screen. I can't use it properly. <<<
TrayClip was designed for systems using a display resolution of 800*600 or higher. Please reset your display resolution to use TrayClip.

>>> I don't understand why TrayClip sometimes has a blank entry on top of the list. <<<
The top entry is always the current entry. If you for instance just copied a file using the clipboard, TrayClip of course shows a blank entry. But don't worry: TrayClip automatically deletes blank entries as soon as a new clipboard entry comes up.

>>> When I copy a large text from Word 97, it appears two times in TrayClip. <<<
Yes, but that's not TrayClip's fault. TrayClip has an Enhanced Entry Management (EEM) which doesn't allow double entries. The reason is that when you open a document in Word, mark all the text and copy it to clipboard quick enough, Word might not have completed the automatic syllabication. It then first copies the original text (without syllabication) to the clipboard, and when it finishes its job, it replaces it by the now syllabicated text.
If you don't want two entries (which are almost exactly the same) in TrayClip, you should wait a second or two after opening a large document in Word before you copy the text, so Word can finish the syllabication.
However, you can also take advantage of this strange behaviour of Word. When you want to copy text from Word to a text box, you'll always have these nasty syllabication marks ("I am writing this text in Micro-soft Word..."). So if you don't want to turn off the automatic syllabication every time you want to do that, you just have to be quick enough. Mark all the text with CTRL+A and copy it to clipboard. Then you open TrayClip and select the lower one of the two nearly identical entries as clipboard entry. Voila - everything is fine!
