RAM Defrag 1.1 help file
========================

Memory information:
-------------------

 * Total Physical memory

   The amount of RAM installed in the system (in KB)

 * Available Physical memory

   The amount of unused RAM (in KB)

 * Total Swap file

   Total possible size, in KB, of the paging file (or swap file, same thing).
   In the case of a fixed size swap file the actual size, otherwise the maximum size Windows would allocate on its own.

 * Available Swap file

   Size, in KB, of space available in the paging file (not used by anybody).

Usage:
------

  Just press "Start" and watch the progress bar. That's all there is to it.

Conservative swap file usage:

  Windows 95 had this enabled by default, but since Windows 98, Microsoft thought it would be better to disable it. You will be your own judge, and here is the explanation.

  if enabled, (like on Win95) Windows will only use the swap file AFTER filling up all your system's RAM. (when he has no other choice, really). This could be good, data goes in RAM which is a whole lot faster than the HDD, and afterwards to the HDD.

  if disabled, (like on Win98&ME) Windows will use BOTH the swap file and RAM at the same time. Some stuff will go into the swap file, some stuff will go into RAM. This could also be good, more time will pass untill all your RAM is filled up.

  Now, you may enable or disable it as you wish, regardless of your Operating System. But please note that for the setting to come into effect a reboot is required. My personal suggestion is as follows. If you have lots of RAM (>= 256MB) you may leave it on, otherwise disable it.
