Visual Event Processor
----------------------

[ Version ]

Client side technology preview, v1.0A.

[ Description ]

Visual Event Processor (VEP), which runs under Microsoft
Windows 95/98/NT4/2000 operating systems, is able to
detect any type of events displayed by an application.
It makes all applications traceable by their messages
and graphical symbols shown on screen.

Existing applications cannot handle all events, and
operating systems don't provide interface to do that.
Generally, an application only shows a message, but it
is not event handling from the view of a system
administrator, and there is no interface to catch and
handle that message from a third-party application.

In VEP, one can define any command to be executed on an
event. VEP contains a DLL (Dynamic Linking Library)
interface for third party extensions, but built-in features
are powerful enough for everyday use. These features are:
sending event information to a URL, event processing by
server side scripts, sending e-mails (containing JPEG
screenshots), executing SQL commands, playing sound files
(speech), and notifying users about event status in a
pop-up web-browser window.

VEP is a client-server application, which shows its power
in a networked environment. Because it operates on system
level and it doesnt use OCR (Optical Character
Recognition) technology, messages are catched without
typos, and it even recognizes messages written into
non-visible windows. There are two additional benefits:
speed it uses about 3-4% processor time on an average
configuration --, and minimal, 2-3MB memory usage.

Areas of use:
- user support by informative responses on events
- problem solving by executing tasks on events
- event statistics
- process tracking

[ Installation & Testing ]

After unzipping the installation file to a folder:

- run "vpt.exe"
- Check "Enabled" (VEP will react to "Hello World!" string,
  defined in the events_global.ini file.)
- run "test.exe" to show a "Hello World!" message.

Important! Server side installer is not included
in this technology preview.
