All hail and well met fellow Tandy users:

I have a few TRS-80 Model 4-Ds and I need to find out if I
can get and EEPROM that will make them boot off of the hard drive
without haveing to go through the system/boot disk. Also how do
you handle the year 2000 problem because mine won't accept any
date in 2000. If anyone knows where I can find one of these
EEPROMs or something that would work please let me know, thank.

If you have LS-DOS 6.3.1 (the last and best of the TRSDOS6
series), it handled dates through 2011.

Somebody was selling a chip to cause the M4 to boot off track 0
of a hard disk, but they were rather late on the scene, and
probably didn't sell many. They were based somewhere inTexas.

One advantage of booting off of floppy, tho, is the ability to
devote different partitions to different operating systems -- for
example, one for TRS/LS=DOS, one for LDOS, one for CP/M, etc.

Hi Jon, I think I have one of those Hard Drive Boot ROMs here
that I've never used that I'd sell. Not sure what is all involved
with it so can't quote you a price right now. If you get this msg
and respond, I'll check it out.
As for years past 2000, the latest LS-DOS version 6.3.1 will
accept dates to 2011. I have such a system disk available for
$20, or complete with Manual for $35.
