Is it okay to run a 1400HD from a vehicle's lighter socket using
a straight patch cord (observing center positive polarity, of
course), whether the engine is on or off? thx, -ph

I don't really know, but would conjecture that such operation
would be OK with the engine off. With the engine on, the
consideration would be whether there were voltage spikes produced
by the alternator. Maybe someone who has used a 1400HD with a DC
adapter could provide better information.

Since user manuals don't seem to be available from Tandy any
longer, maybe someone who has one could check to see what is the
recommended method to run the 1400 from a vehicle....? -ph

Hopefully, someone reading these messages can provide the
information. Have you tried Tandy National Parts (1-800-442-2425)
to see whether they can supply the manual?

Yes, I did try National Parts a couple of months ago and the user
manual is no longer available apparently. -ph
