Hello, I have a Tandy 1000 that I have "inherited" with no
info or boot disc. This model has no hard drive but does have a
modem. It keeps asking for a boot disc when I try to turn it on.
Naturally, I do not have the disc..... Question though, is there
any way to get a disc (51/4"), and are there any uses/ software
out there for this unit? Can it be used at least for word
processing? Also, Since it does have a modem, Can it be used for
email on Compuserve? It is sometimes a struggle to get some time
on my pentium since the kids use it alot for their schoolwork,
and it would be nice to have a backup machine. Any info would be
appreciated, thanks.

See the file DISKREPL.TXT in LIB 1 for information on several
ways to obtain replacement system disks. The T1K would be useful
for the things you asked about, so new system disks (cost about
$7.50 the last time I checked) would be worthwhile.
