AT-IDE HARD DRIVE ADAPTER CARD

For years, Tandy 1000 owners have wanted to be able to add a
large hard drive to their computer. With programs today taking
up major storage space, 40 MB is sometimes just not enough to get
the job done. What you've needed was a way to put really big
hard drives in your trusty 1000's. And guess what? We found a way.

A New AT-IDE Hard Drive Adapter Is Shipping

The new AT-IDE Hard Drive Adapter is the replacement for the
25-1088 Hard Drive Adapter Card. It works in much the same way
as the 25-1088, but with a very significant difference -- it
allows you to use 3 1/2" 16-bit AT-IDE drives in an 8-bit
computer! That means you can use a 52, 85, 105, 120, 240 MB or
larger hard drive in your XT computer, and extend the useful life
of your computer.

Unlike the 25-1088, it also works in computers that already have
an XT-IDE controller, such as the Tandy 1000 TL/2 and Tandy 1000
TL/3.

You Must Have An Open XT Slot

To use the AT-IDE Hard Drive Adapter, there must be an open XT
slot. The new adapter is very wide and will take up the width of
two slots. You will need to use the innermost slot, or be sure
two 8-bit slots are available immediately next to each other, in
order to use this adapter. (The length of the bracket on this
adapter does not allow the board to seat properly in a 16-bit
slot; therefore, a 16-bit slot cannot be used.)

What about performance of the drive? In our testing, we found no
difference in access speed, whether the drive was on the AT-IDE
Adapter or in a 4850 EP.

The 25-1095 AT-IDE Hard Drive Adapter is just another example of
how Radio Shack continues to look for new products to interest
our customers. It's also another example of why we can say...
Nobody Compares!
